About Me

I was born in British Columbia, Canada and while I moved around a fair bit growing up, will always call Nelson home. I have one sister, two step-sisters and a step-brother as well as nieces and a nephew with whom I spend as much time as possible, although unfortunately that time has been limited since my husband and I moved across the country to Newfoundland in 2012 to attend Memorial University. I completed my first degree in 2015, a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with a minor in Religious Studies, before immediately immersing myself in the Bachelor of Education Primary/Elementary degree here at Memorial.

I have an incredible love of languages, and while I am not fluent, I have spent time studying French, German, Russian, Mandarin and Hebrew. I am absolutely fascinated by the many facets of both written and oral communication and consider it a great asset to my teacher tool kit. I am an avid reader and enjoy many different genres of literature, from tried and true classics to the more contemporary, and ranging from worlds of fantasy through no-nonsense instructional texts. This great love of books and reading is something that I am very much looking forward to passing on to my students.

I am a lifelong learner, optimist, traveler and a constant observer. I believe in the inherent goodness of people and the importance of education of ALL kinds, and it is my dream to spend my life making a difference in and out of my classroom.
