Step 1: Create a ‘Home’ Page for Your ePortfolio Site
- Go to the dashboard for your ePortfolio site.
- At the top of the page, click ‘+ New’ and select ‘Page’ from the menu. (You can access the ‘Add page’ function from other locations as well, but we will use this location in this guide).
- ‘Add New Page’ page will open. Put ‘Home’ in the title line and write a short message welcoming viewers to your ePortfolio site. Your page may look like the one below.
- If you want to preview your ‘Home’ page, click the ‘Preview’ button in the top right corner of the page and select ‘Preview in a new Tab‘.
- After reviewing your ‘Home’ page, close the ‘Preview’ tab and either edit the content or click ‘Publish’.
Congratulations – you have just created your first page! To view your page, click ‘View page’ in the ‘What’s next?’ window. It is recommended that you view the page in a new browser tab or window so you can easily return to the ePortfolio dashboard by simply closing the preview tab.
NOTE: You do not need to focus on the content or design of your ePortfolio pages at this point. Adding content will be discussed in Step 5 below. Once your pages are created, you will be able to update content at any time.
Step 2: Create the Main Page for Your Course’s ePortfolio
To add your second main page (the landing page for your Philosophy 1002 ePortfolio) repeat the same process as for creating the ‘Home’ page (Step 1 above), but with two exceptions:
- Put ‘Philosophy 1002 ePortfolio’ as the page title
- Write an introduction to your ePortfolio collection for this course on this page.
Step 3: Create All Remaining Pages
After your two main pages are created, add your content pages – one for each artifact you want to include in your ‘Philosophy 1002 ePortfolio’ and one page for the conclusion. Follow the steps below to create each page.
- Go to the dashboard for your ePortfolio site.
- Click ‘+ New’ at the top of the page and select ‘Page’ from the menu.
- A new blank page will open. Title the page ‘Artifact 1’ and add content. Alternatively, you can leave the body blank – content can be added later.
- Repeat the same process to create a page for each remaining artifact and for the ‘Conclusion’
Step 4: Add Content to Your ePortfolio
You can add content (text, media, links etc.) to your ePortfolio pages now or any time after you finish organizing the site. To add content, follow the instructions below.
- Go to the dashboard for your ePortfolio.

- In the menu on the left, select ‘Pages’. Click on the page you want to work on (you can also hover the page title and select ‘Edit’ from the menu that appears underneath).
- Add content to your page, and format it using the available tools. You can also add media if you wish (see Step 5 below). When finished, click ‘Update’ in the top right corner of the page.
- Repeat steps 1-3 to add content to all your ePortfolio pages.
Step 5: Add Media to Your Pages (optional)
Your ePortfolio pages can contain more than just text – you can add various media, such as documents (doc, pdf), images (jpeg, pgn, gif), videos (mp3, wav), and presentations (ppt). In order to add media to your ePortfolio pages, however, you must first add them to your Media Library in WordPress. Once there, the media can be embedded in or linked to your ePortfolio pages. This section of the guide explains how to build a Media Library.
- Go to the dashboard for your ePortfolio.
- In the menu on the left, select ‘Media’, then ‘Library’.
- Click ‘Add New’.
- Select or drag-and-drop files from your computer and upload them to the library.
- Once the media are uploaded, go to the ePortfolio page where you want to add media (go to: your ePortfolio dashboard > select ‘Pages’ from the menu > click on the page you want to edit).
- Click the ‘Add Block’ icon (shaped as a +) on the page and select ‘Image’ from the available options.
- In the window that pops up, select ‘Media Library’.
- You will now be taken to your Media Library. Select the file you want to add to your page and click ‘Select’ in the bottom right corner.

- The media you selected will be added to your page.
- You can preview the page by clicking the ‘Preview’ button in the top right of the page. If you are satisfied with how the page looks, close the preview tab and click ‘Update’.
