This was my first semester with the Commons, and I enjoyed solving numerous problems that the clients faced. The first month I had to be attentive to different things around the systems like web tools, Remedy, etc. but after that period I was quite comfortable using them. Into my third week, I was offered a CS tutor position. Although the summer wasn’t as busy as I expected it to be for the tutors, I still managed to conduct a few private tutorials with the students. My favorite tutorial was when I tutored a student for HTML. As I worked on various personal and group projects in the previous semester, I found teaching HTML to be my strong suit. On days that I didn’t have clients for tutoring, I spent time finishing the challenges for that week / previous weeks or helping at the desk.
One thing I wasn’t too happy about my ability to do the DMC challenges. I only managed to do two challenges during the semester. I found work dairies a great tool to exchange information and also a helpful tool to get feedback to better our services. The CS challenges helped me learn different things about Microsoft office, Javascript, and HTML.
