Above And Beyond – Spring 2018

This semester I put more effort into my challenges. For my DMC challenges specially, since they are more open-ended, I tried to look up additional tutorials to make my submissions more polished. I paid extra attention to detail and added some extra flare to them. In the process of adding extras to my submissions, I was able to enhance my knowledge on the various DMC software.

I completed two projects in the Makerspace. These were not assigned to me, so I had to be pro-active to find projects and their tutorials online. My first project was a IR-remote-controlled two wheeled robot which can move forwards and backwards, and turn (pivot) clockwise or anti-clockwise. My second project was a smartphone controlled door-lock. The mechanism would work on doors with deadbolts. A user can activate or deactivate the lock remotely, or via the press of a button (from the inside). I also completed a sub-project for my first project. For the sub-project I added an ultrasonic sensor to the robot to add basic autonomous-obstacle-avoidance abilities.
