Work Diaries Week-7 Handling Criticism

As we wrap up mid-semester feedback and hurtle toward final feedback meetings, have a read through these Tips for Handling Criticism. Do you find it difficult to take criticism? Before working at The Commons, had you ever experienced “performance reviews” at other workplaces? What strategies work for you when receiving criticism/feedback?

The deadline for points is 10AM on Tuesday, November 6.

When I am assigned a task or duty, I try to pay close attention to the details. I try to complete the assignment to the requirements, and sometimes more, and look forward to feedbacks. When I receive criticism, it usually works towards boosting my motivation to work even harder. It’s easy for me to accept criticism when it’s presented to me in a respectful tone. If the criticism is meant to make me feel bad, or insult me, I ignore it. I have never been in a situation where I was falsely criticized. Therefore, I never felt the need to be defensive about criticism. The only time I would defend myself is if a feedback/criticism is falsely accusing me of something, when I have concrete evidence to prove otherwise.
