Tutoring Log – Fall 2017

Wednesday: 1pm-5pm
Thursday: 4pm-5pm

I can tutor in:

  • MS Word
  • MS Excel
  • MS Powerpoint 
  • MS Publisher

I can also tutor in DMC softwares (if ever needed), and other programs:

  • Illustrator
  • After Effects
  • Premiere
  • C/C++
  • Python

 

Week 1:

  • Wednesday, Oct 4th, 2017, 1-5pm:
    No clients today. For the most of my shift, I helped out at the desk, as it was really busy. I worked on creating a CS challenge on PowerPoint, and worked on my own challenges in-between clients at the desk. I also covered Rick’s 2-3pm shift.
  • Thursday, Oct 5th, 2017, 4-5pm:
    This session was booked for an excel tutorial, but the client showed up at 5pm (I helped him book another session next week). I worked on creating a challenge, and helped at the desk.

 

Week 2:

  • Wednesday, Oct 11th, 2017, 1-5pm:
    A client was booked in for the 4pm slot, but he called and cancelled the session. I continued working on creating a PowerPoint challenge. Today I brainstormed and made a list of some ideas for what the challenge could be on.
  • Thursday, Oct 12th, 2017, 4-5pm:
    No clients today. I helped out at the desk and worked on my CS challenge.

 

Week 3:

  • Wednesday, Oct 18th, 2017, 1-5pm:
    No clients today either. Me and Henrique sat together to discuss marketing strategies for the tutoring service. We came up with some ideas for how we can design posters so that people are interested in our services despite having a huge database of tutorials online. We also outlined some activities/events we can organize for mass student gatherings (i.e- Welcome Week) to boost our popularity.
  • Thursday, Oct 19th, 2017, 4-5pm:
    No clients today. I spent my time in the DMC working on my CS challenge.

 

Week 4:

  • Wednesday, Oct 25th, 2017, 1-5pm:
    No clients today. I spent my time in the Makerspace. I talked to Rowan about designing and printing new key-chains for the keys we have in our safe. I learned how the printers work, what I have to keep in mind when designing 3D models and how the design in Fusion 360 gets translated for the printer.
  • Thursday, Oct 26th, 2017, 4-5pm:
    No clients today. I spent my time in the DMC working on designing the key chains.

 

Week 5:

  • Wednesday, Nov 1st, 2017, 3-5pm:
    No clients today. It was busier than usual at the desk, so I helped out at the desk for the first hour. For the second hour I worked on creating a CS challenge for Excel.
  • Thursday, Nov 2nd, 2017, 4-5pm:
    No clients today. I spent my time in the DMC working on my challenges.

 

Week 6:

  • Wednesday, Nov 10th, 2017, 1-5pm:
    No clients today. Worked on my challenges in the DMC and continued working on creating the Excel challenge.
  • Thursday, Nov 11th, 2017, 4-5pm:
    No clients today. Stayed back at the desk and helped out.

 

Week 7:

  • Wednesday, Nov 15th, 2017, 3-5pm:
    No clients today. I continued working on creating the Excel challenge.
  • Thursday, Nov 16th, 2017, 4-5pm:
    Finally had a client booked today. However, he didn’t show up. I waited at the desk for half an hour and then went to the DMC to work on my challenges.

 

Week 8:

  • Wednesday, Nov 22nd, 2017, 3-5pm:
    No clients today. I spent some time playing around with the DSLRs in the DMC. I got some expert tips from pro-photographer Shams. I spent the rest of my shift working on updating my ePortfolio.
  • Thursday, Nov 23rd, 2017, 4-5pm:
    No client today. I spent my time on the DMC challenge and writing the AAB report.
