I’m Md. Rana Parvez, a community-focused researcher and consultant with over eight years of professional experience working in the fields of environmental policy, social research, and development planning. I am passionate about designing solutions that promote community resilience, environmental justice, and inclusive development.
🎓 My Academic Journey
My academic path reflects a deep curiosity about the intersections between society, policy, and the environment:
- Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Policy at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Grenfell Campus), Canada, where I work as a Graduate Research Assistant contributing to projects on marine biomass innovation and cultural asset mapping in rural Newfoundland.
- I earned my Master’s in Journalism and Communication from Wuhan University, China, where I focused on the role of media in political communication.
- I also hold an MS and a BSc in Criminology and Police Science from Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, which provided me with a strong foundation in social analysis, governance, and public engagement.
💼 My Career Path
Throughout my career, I have worked with a range of organizations, from international donors to grassroots institutions:
- As a Socio-Economic Specialist at C4RE Services, I led community consultations and designed research tools for USAID-funded biodiversity and risk assessments in Bangladesh.
- At Services and Solutions International Ltd. (SSIL), I managed business development and research coordination for large-scale development programs.
- With Shahidul Consultant Ltd., I contributed to World Bank and ADB-funded projects including Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs), and Gender and Governance reviews.
I have also served as a Research Assistant in China, a Monitoring Officer for Save the Children projects, and an early-career professional in HR and compliance. Each role has deepened my understanding of how policy translates into community realities.
