Reflective Piece
This was my second term at The Commons and the first as a CS tutor. Because of that, most of my accomplishments and personal growth had to do with the tutoring service and all the skills involved in it, such as: passion, innovation , persistence and patience, among others. During this term, I could be a part of the growth and learning process of many clients who came to seek us for help, something that it’s not always easy to do. Moreover, I learned to better anticipate and prepare for clients expectations and needs as most of the booked sessions didn’t had the description field filled out. Furthermore, I really feel that the CS challenges made a difference, as some of them focus on frequent questions asked on and off tutoring hours. Regardless of the seemingly triviality of the desk shifts, there was always something new to learn, like how to fix laptops touch pads, configure hearing aid accessories and dealing with seriously jammed staplers. Not to mention the improvement of time management skills, which play an important role on performing a good job. While I feel that I have much to refine on everything involved in this job, I have the constant feeling of improvement and fulfillment as I think I have gotten better in all aspects compared to my first term here. These are a few reasons why I think I went above and beyond this term and will continue on doing so with future opportunities.
